Self-Massage: Trapezius

Who else is missing a massage?

I'm going to take a crack at posting some self-care videos to help us all work on feeling our best. This video focuses on the upper trapezius muscle--you know, the chronically angry one...

All you need are two balls of any kind and to remember that less is sometimes more.

Start by lying on your back, keeping your knees bent and feet on the ground. Place a ball underneath each upper trap being cautious to avoid all boney bits (the spine and scapula).

To increase sensation, you can elevate the hips into a supported bridge pose. If you are feeling discomfort or too much pressure, try placing a blanket or towel over the balls.

Once you have yourself set up, try slowly reaching your arms overhead and then lowering them back down by your sides.

Less is more--don't overdo it!
